Chicago- The Grant Park

designed by renowned architect
Frank Gehry
and features an unparalleled acoustic system created by the Talaske

Acclaimed by critics and
beloved by audiences,
the Grant Park Music

"The Jay Pritzker Pavilion is
the most sophisticated

are proud
to present the first concerts
on its stage" said Grant Park
Music Festival
Artistic and General
Director James W. Palermo. "The
new sound
system at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion will revolutionize how people
listen
to outdoor classical music."
The July 16-18 Grant Park
Music Festival concerts
are the centerpiece
of the grand opening of
Millennium Park, three
days of free concerts, dancing, interactive activities, family
entertainment,
tours and more.
Other highlights of the weekend
include performances
by Chicago
favorites in every musical
style, from opera
to pop, a "People s Parade" featuring performing groups from
neighborhoods
throughout the city, art making activities and tours of the park.
The highlight of each Grant
Park Music Festival
concert is the world premiere of John Corigliano s Midsummer Fanfare, a
new piece commissioned for the occasion by the Grant Park Music
Festival
and inspired by the stainless steel ribbons that envelop the new Jay
Pritzker
Pavilion.
"The Grant Park Music
Festival epitomizes the
best in free, outdoor classical music. I am honored that Carlos Kalmar
asked me to write a
new work for the opening of

new park," said Midsummer Fanfare composer John Corigliano.
