For this race
Goodyear went all our with their effort to lend a hand to our military
personnel.

The Goodyear representatives were all over
the place showing a helping hand and assistance to all our fighting men
and women. We took a tour later with some of our Marines and
witnessed the affection and appreciation shown them by all of the crews
and drivers around the track.

Michael Helton
(born in 1953) is the third President
of NASCAR
(National Association of Stock Car
Auto Racing).

Mr.
Helton noted that NASCAR shall look into Menard spin at Richmond,
and if all the rules
were followed. The reporters were persistent in their
questioning. We spoke to Michael Helton after the barrage
of questions, wanting to know which car he owned and drove the
most. He was pleased with our question and told us that he drives
a Chevy Tahoe hybrid, and enjoys it. His staff told us later that
he is a big guy and the big ride suits him fine, I was hoping for
something like a Mini Cooper.....

Marine Corp. Master Sergeant James Starr II, with two younger Marines

Jeff Burton (above).

Master Sergeant James Starr II came from a
dairy farm his parents owned in Pennsylvania before joining the Marines
and becoming the Operations Chief of Company "E" 47th Recon
unit. He has seen both Iraq and Afghanistan as a
Marine, been wounded numerous times from bomb burns and shrapnel.
The short time I spent with these men gave me strong feeling that we
are lucky to have them on our team.
Matt Kenseth took the time to talk with us a little about the cooler
temperatures of today's track and how it actually helps with the
traction of the race. The turns are another issue with each track
having different bends, length of turns, and surface consistency.
He also added when pressed further that all the turn stuff he left to
his crew, they were the experts.

The King of
NASCAR, Mr. Richard Petty poses with our Marines.

Journals of Chicago Inc. photo
Richard Petty is as good as it gets, a
driver of renown fame and success, his smile and warm personality
greeted everyone he came into contact with, he took photos with
everyone who wanted one and didn't even have a friend along to pull him
away from his admirers, which is a classy way to keep things
moving. He walked slowly and greeted all his fans, a truly class
act.

Kris
Kienzl explains how the current point totals given to the drivers
determines where they may park their trucks and which bays they may
use. The better you're doing the closer to the track you get.

Austin
Dillon, with his team, his family, and his sponsors thanks the fans and
the Chicagoland Speedway for a great win.

It was a great race, with just about
everyone finishing who started. Some great driving, great teams,
and some outstanding pit crews helped bring the prize home for Mr.
Dillon. I bet its faster than any Chevy Tahoe hybrid too.
